Are you struggling to find your passion? Can't find the correct guide? Today’s newsletter will show you how.
You have spent much of your youth studying for a major that you're not sure if it's the career you want.
But you ignore it until you finish your studies.
Upon graduation, you receive your certificate and wear your graduation gown, only to begin your new stage of life...
Clueless.
Not only that, there are tons of videos on the internet that don’t help.
They say things like:
Sales is the best industry
Finding your passion is “unrealistic”
Settle down into any job you can find
Or they present theories and methods which are complicated to implement.
If you've experienced this, then the following methods can help you find your passion.
Having come from a background of multiple job experiences, I discovered there are 3 methods to do that:
1) Try many things
It doesn't matter if people say you are lacking "focus", just try and keep trying.
Experiment, fail, screw things up, and take note of what worked for you.
This is where schools didn't train you, so now's the time to go all in on failing.
2) Find out what you dislike
Counter-intuitively, finding your passion is not about figuring out what you like.
It's about figuring out what you hate and avoid it.
This mental model is called Via Negativa.
"We know a lot more about what is wrong than what is right."
— Nassim Nicholas Taleb
3) Combine all your skills and interests
Work towards combining both your strengths and interests.
It'll also differentiate you from the rest and make you attractive to employers and clients.
If you need help with this, I’ve prepared a skills-combination worksheet for you to start writing.
“The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.”
― Robert Greene
Finding your passion isn’t hard.
It boils down to whether you give yourself the chance to experiment and take some risks.
After all, isn’t life too short not to?
To recap, here are the 3 methods to find your passion:
Try many things
Find out what you dislike
Combine all your skills and interests
I wish you a Happy New Year, full of love, happiness and health.
See you next Tuesday.
